The nursing field is rich with opportunities for people with the right education and skills and the desire to give their very best. The Stevens-Henager College Bachelor of Science in Nursing Administration is designed as a degree completion program to enhance career opportunities for practicing Registered Nurses by providing the appropriate knowledge and skills for supervisory positions.

The curriculum emphasizes the professional behaviors and values essential to safe, ethical, culturally sensitive, and humanistic care including, but not limited to, the following coursework:

  • The Health Care System
  • Case Management
  • Research in Nursing Practice
  • Pathophysiology
  • Professional Role Development
  • Theoretical Foundations of Nursing
  • Health Promotion & Disease Prevention
  • Health Assessment
  • Community & Family Health
  • Psychological Aspects of Illness and Disability
  • Evidence-Based Nursing
  • Nursing Management and Leadership
  • Sociology of Aging
  • Advanced Interpersonal Communications
  • Medical Ethics
  • Human Resource Management
  • Organization Behavior
  • Nursing Informatics

As a graduate of the program, you will be prepared to:

  • Function as a client advocate in the nursing process and the holistic planning of care with health consumers.
  • Teach clients about the health care system and restoration, maintenance, and promotion of health.
  • Integrate leadership and management skills to delivery of high-quality patient care in context of nursing teams.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for design, delivery, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practice techniques to find, critically appraise, and use the best practice to provide high-quality and cost-effective patient care.

Because this program prepares students to assume health care supervisory positions rather than additional clinical responsibilities, no clinical hours are required. All applicants must have an RN or an Associate's degree in Nursing. Diploma RNs will need to complete the prerequisites to the associate's level.
