Transfer Your Military Experience

If you have eligible credits from previous colleges you’ve attended, or if you have eligible military experience, you could save up to 75% the time and cost of your associate’s or bachelor’s degree.

“We’ve geared all of our degree programs to be not only career-specific, but to be focused on that adult learner who’s coming back to school and needs additional support, needs focused curriculum, needs career-specific curriculum, rather than a lot of electives that may not really add any value to their future career.”

– Eric Juhlin
President of California College San Diego

Ways to Transfer Your Experience

The following are just a handful of the ways you can earn college credit at California College San Diego and save on the time and cost of your degree:

Credits from another college

Why redo any of your college classes if you don’t have to? If you’ve gone to college before, you may have credits that could transfer to one of our degree programs. See how many of your credits you can transfer today!

Defense Activities for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES)

Your military experience may be transferable into college credit. California College San Diego and DANTES can work with you to find out if any of your military experience qualifies for transfer.

College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)

You may be able to test out of some college courses completely due to real-world training and experience in the military. Testing or “CLEPing” out of classes could help you save significant time and money on college courses that you’d otherwise have to take.

Advanced Placement (AP) courses

Did you take any advanced placement courses in high school? If so, you could potentially transfer those credits to one of our college’s degree programs, and save yourself time and money.

College-recognized certifications (i.e., Cisco, Microsoft, A+, etc.)

Professional certifications that you’ve received through military service or for a job can help you save time and money of college. Find out how by speaking with a specialized military admissions consultant.

Competency examination

If you already know something, why relearn it? Depending on your past civilian or military experience, you may already be competent in any number of areas that translate directly into college credit.
Certain restrictions apply. Speak with a military admissions consultant today to find out if your previous college credits or military experience can be transferred to California College San Diego.
